Stitch Fix January 2017 Review #13

It always amazes me how quickly the holiday season comes and goes. This one in particular because it was the first year that Max was able to participate in the excitement. Despite being sick for most of it, he had a fantastic time in Chicago opening presents, celebrating his birthday (a little early) and even learning to say “Happy Hanukkah”.

After spending weeks buying gifts for other people, I decided to treat myself and start the new year with a Stitch Fix box. As always, my stylist delivered thoughtful pieces tailored to my taste. Here are the contents of my 13th Stitch Fix box.

MARKET & SPRUCE Liz Textured Sweater, S ($68)

Most days I find myself reaching for more conservative tops, like a basic crewneck sweater. These pieces get an undeserved bad rap—for being boring and unexciting—but there is actually an elegance to their simplicity. This particular top is patterned like a sweatshirt giving it an easy versatility that can be dressed down for an effortless cool vibe. The chunky open knit gives it a unique texture and makes this a great transition piece that can be worn well into Spring.

RETROD Moana Elbow Patch Pullover, S ($64)

I love the preppy vibe that elbow patches afford; however, I immediately knew this top wasn’t a keeper. Although I gravitate towards casual styles, this one felt too sloppy for my taste. Instead of toeing the line of I-just-threw-this-on-but-it-still-looks-awesome, this top crossed the line. Perhaps if I paired it with a different top or a pair of high waisted pants it may have worked, but I wasn’t dazzled enough to try.

ANDREW MARC Risor Quilted Puffer Coat, M ($128)

I haven’t bought a new coat in a while, which is why I was thrilled to receive this quilted puffer coat. It arrived on an unseasonably warm day, but that didn’t stop me from immediately putting it on in anticipation of colder days. I loved the fleece lined pockets and fur trimmed hood. Needless to say, this was a keeper. Since then there have been plenty of days when the temperature has dropped far below freezing and this coat has been the perfect piece of outerwear. However, the size small that Stitch Fix initially sent was too snug so I exchanged it for a medium. This was the first time I requested an exchange and was pleasantly surprised how quickly the new size arrived.

OCTAVIA Bolton Plaid Scarf ($34)

On cold days, there is nothing better than being wrapped up in an oversized wool scarf. I would have kept this one, except Stitch Fix surprised me with an equally beautiful scarf as a holiday gift (thanks Stitch Fix!). Whenever I think the company can’t get any cooler, they somehow manage to prove me wrong.
