Modern Map Art

When it comes to decorating our home I favor a clean aesthetic: white walls, minimal furniture and neutral colors. Maybe it’s because I’ve never been someone who can expertly arrange a gallery wall, or seamlessly match bold patterns (e.g., Mondo, Project Runway) in a way that feels both eclectic and cohesive. Whatever the reason, white walls can feel sterile and uninviting. As a way to bring more personality to our space, I’ve been making an effort to fill our walls with interesting pictures and prints.

I collaborated with Modern Map Art, a company started by Jennifer Beck and inspired by her love of traveling the world. The concept is simple, take your favorite cities, mountains or countries and turn them into beautiful works of art. You can select from over 500 cities, but if the city you are looking for isn’t listed, the company will work with you to create what you are looking for. There are several color options to choose from but, again, the company will work with you to customize your print if you want to use different color palette or even customize the text. I chose a black and white city map of Richmond, VA. It’s where Aaron and I met and married, and will always have a special place in my heart.

Modern Map Art - Great gift for hard to shop for people

The Richmond map from Modern Map Art is a museum-quality poster made from thick, durable, matte paper and printed with UltraChrome ink, which is fingerprint resistant. The end result is exactly what I was looking for and adds a unique touch to our wall. This is the perfect gift for that hard-to-shop-for person in your life who seems to have everything. And if you, or someone you know, is into skiing (which I’m not) the Ski Maps are another great gift option. They’re so mesmerizing, I’m almost almost inspired to conquer a black diamond (or a bunny slope).
