I’ve been wasting a whole lotta’ time on TikTok lately. But to show that my trip down the rabbit hole hasn’t been for nothing, here are some of the amazing, but def nonessential, products TikTok has “made me” buy.

Desktop vacuum

Desktop vacuum

Love this little vacuum! If you are a snacker (✅) and work from home (✅) then your work space probably borders on yuck most days (no, just me?). Either way, this little gizmo does a great job tidying up your workspace! I got one for Aaron too!

Magnetic cable ties

Magnetic cable ties

These cable ties are pretty great, especially if you are looking to replace everyday items with reusable options. I know there are a lot of different cable organizers out there, but these magnetic ones are among the best I’ve tried. And trust me, not all reusable products are created equal. We tried these silicone sponges, which were a disaster in my opinion (Aaron is still convinced they are great).

Wooden fort clips

Wooden fort clips

I can’t blame my kids for loving forts, because I spent a fair bit of my childhood destroying the family room for my “fort vision”. These fort clips def help the process. For a while we were using 3M strips, which are great for almost every thing, but do not stand up against kids and fort creation.

Melamine sponges

Melamine sponges

Did you know that magic erasers are just melamine sponges? I didn’t until some random person on TikTok showed me! Once you know that, then you realize you can get 100 of these things for $10.99 vs a 10 pack of magic erasers for $12.99!

Magnet Pal

Magnet Pal

This is such a random but incredibly useful tool! Aaron and I had a makeshift version of this, which was a magnet poorly duct tapped to a long dowel. I was so excited when I came across this Magnet Pal that I’m pretty sure I placed my order before the video finished.

Moonlite story projector

Moonlite story projector

This is a fun little inexpensive projector thing. The downside is you are limited by their disk format, so if you want to add more stories you need to buy more stuff.

Drill sponge pads

Drill sponge pads

This feels like one of those really obvious things that I wish I had thought of. Instead of putting elbow grease into scrubbing the bathroom, these little drill extensions make the job go by so much faster! You’re welcome, Aaron (no, just kidding, I clean too)!

Duvet clips

Duvet clips

Until recently my trick for getting duvets to stay put was to safety pins the corners. Not the prettiest look, but they were barely noticeable. These duvet clips are so much better and a tiny bit less janky.

Whale bath sprinkler

Whale bath sprinkler

This weird little whale thing sprays water and lights up, which is pretty much a recipe for blast in the bath. This is obviously a ridiculous purchase, but it is pretty darn fun.

Flip It! Bottle Emptying Kit

Flip It! Bottle Emptying Kit

Okay, nothing drives me crazier than wasting the bottom of a product. And I’m not just talking about expensive stuff; I mean the everyday products: shampoo, lotion, soap, etc. One of the worst offenders (in my opinion) is the Cetaphil lotion bottle, which I actually complained to the company about back in 2012 (back in the day when I didn’t have kids, and did stuff like complain about product pumps). I even dug up their response (shown below)! Anyway, this flip it kit is the perfect solution to the “can’t get the rest of the bottle out” problem!

Bamboo mason jar lids

Bamboo mason jar lids

I use mason jars for everything. I have aspirations to make them adorable and pinterest worthy, but more often than not I don’t do anything. These bamboo lids are an easy way to elevate the look.

Clear museum gel

Clear museum gel

If you’ve been watching The Home Edit on Netflix, then you get this. Does it drive you crazy when your organizers shift when you open drawers? So much so that you close and open them like you are handling fine crystal? Just use a dollop of museum gel under the corners of your organizers and now everything will stay in place!

That’s it for now. I’d love to know what your favorite every day random items are!
