Loving the Quip Toothbrush
Okay dentist friends or anyone in the oral hygiene profession, please weigh in. Aaron and I recently switched to the quip toothbrush and we are loving it. Honestly, the reason we made the switch has less to do with improving brushing habits and more to do with the sleek wireless design. We were tired of looking at our dingy electric toothbrushes plugged into the corner and we love how these easily suction onto the bathroom mirror. One of my favorite details is that the wall mount comes off and doubles as a travel cover, which makes this brush as convenient as a manual brush to take on the road.
The company was started as a way to find “the cheapest electric brush available” with the purpose of teaching people not to brush too hard. According to the company brushing too hard is a common and extremely damaging habit. This electric brush solves that problem with it’s soft bristles that vibrate in a back and forth rather than circular motion.
To brush your teeth, the quip has a 30 second quadrant timer that automatically stops after 2 minutes. Replacement brush heads aren’t available in stores so we simplified our routine by signing up for a brush head subscription, which is $5 for 3 brush heads every 3 months (free shipping). The brush uses a replaceable battery that supposedly lasts up to 3 months (we’ve only had the brush for about 6 weeks, so I can’t attest to this). Side note, if you are looking for a battery charger, I highly recommend this one. It’s fast, can charge individual batteries and can be used for AA or AAA. Individual charging means you can efficiently charge 1 to 4 batteries with differing levels of remaining charge (apparently not all chargers can do that!). Ever since Max was born we use so many more batteries so having a good stash of rechargeable batteries and a fast charger are key!
