DIY Roman Shades

When it comes to home decor, I normally gravitate towards more neutral colors, since I feel that provides a simple and classic look. I’m always a little hesitant whenever Aaron suggests adding more color to a room, but lately I’ve been coming around to the idea. Maybe all the hours of watching HGTV have rubbed off on me, because now I see that a little color can have a major impact on a neutral palette. While I’m not ready to let loose on the color injection, I have been making a concerted effort to incorporate a splash of color to each room. Here, we spruced up our kitchen window with a colorful roman shade. Affordable window treatments are hard to find (most custom options are expensive!), so I followed this detailed DIY tutorial and made my own. This project was fun, easy and required very little sewing. The roman shade immediately transformed the room and made it feel a little more complete.
